Auto Technology 1

The course with "how it works" of component parts and systems.  An overall view of inspection and maintenance is a major goal.  Repair of components is done on an "as needed" basis depending on skill level.  Wiring diagrams and electric meter usage are introduced along with the basic engine components and operation.

 

Auto Technology 2 - Electronic and Fuel Systems

The course will start with the automotive electrical systems of starting, charging, and ignition.  These systems will be tested and diagnosed working with technology common in maintenance and repair of today's transportation vehicles.  We will then proceed to fuel delivery systems ranging from carburetion to electronic fuel injection.  The course is designed to bring all of these systems together as they tie into the computer and its control of the car.  The end result will be the ability to diagnose and tune today's engines.  Personal and privately owned vehicles are used to apply various manipulative skills in the use of laboratory equipment and tools.

 

Auto Technology 2 - Mechanical Systems

Course number: 260

 

The course covers the disassembly and assembly techniques common on today's transportation vehicles in the repair process.  During the course we will test, diagnose and repair automotive engines, brakes, suspensions, or power transmission units.  Overhaul of any one of the above components will become your major project.  School equipment may be used.

 

** Autos 1 and 2 are Dual Credit Classes through NICC.  Each class is 2 quarters (18 weeks).  All students will be assessed a $50 charge for the credit, per semester.
